Preble County Commissioners
September 26, 2012
Three Commissioners in attendance
Discussion on forum or debate.
Rachel Vonderhaar.
Bob Stonecash – You know I would like to see Chris Day and Eric Green stand up toe to toe and there would be a decisive winner real quick.
Rachel Vonderhaar : There was some question if there would be some interest in a second one and I wasn't sure if there would be with the candidates. If they would like a second opportunity but there were quite a few people who would at like to at least hear Deitering and Winburn and Brown and Mandel comparatively. So that is why we decided to have the next one be those races.
1.5 Minute mark Bob Stonecash – Hey David there is the one I was really referring to the law requiring two additional Fair Board members.
David Wesler – Ok, what page was that on?

Chris Day – David do you have anything?
David Wesler – trying to reach folks about the Commissioners Ball.
Rachel and Allan will be there.
17.5 Minute mark David – I scheduled a week from now to go up to another county to look at their landfill….. a week from today. Defiance.
Rachel called me last night; I'll let her talk later.
19.5 Minute mark Connie discusses demolition grant tour around the county to review the 34 applications.
21.5 Minute mark Connie – They have a great neighborhood watch down in Fairhaven.
28 Minute mark David gives paper back to Bob and Bob says something has got to be done.
Bob mentions a pet peeve. When he came in this morning there were three courthouse employee vehicles out front and one lawyer. See no reason for our employees to park out front and cause somebody doing business in the courthouse to have to walk. "So all of those that are listening please don't park in front of the courthouse."
31.25 Minute mark Connie – How was your Partnership meeting last night?
Chris Day – It was very good. Room was pretty full. Jeffrey Miller replacing Rebecca Butler, she is taking a different position with Sinclair. Discussion on the Work Force Development. Trying to get more people engaged in the Work Keys program… the program is not meeting the goals that are set.
Bob Stonecash- the reason they are not meeting their goals is they don't have enough computers and time to train people.
33.25 Minute mark Revolving loan fund in place. By the end of this year Chris believes it will have $30,000. Hoping to have $50,000 next year in the fund. Should be active by end of next month. Eaton National Bank maintaining the fund.
Marketing Committee is going to do some video clips to help with marketing.
Bob – $20,000 was set aside for that I believe.
36.25 Minute mark Bob – That Marketing Committee is up for a state award for being one of the top economic development groups – public and private in the state of Ohio.
37 Minute mark Dr. Moore mentioned a 5 – 10 million dollar grant to help the schools. He will get more info and will need letters of support by mid-October.

Rachel Vonderhaar representing the Preble County Farm Bureau. Deals with merging with Montgomery and Hamilton County and relocate to Farmersville.
Christy Millhouse – OSU Extension also in Chamber made a suggestion to Rachel and she presents it to the Commission.
Rachel suggests renting space from OSU Extension and hire Nancy Tilton for 10 hours a week which make her a full time staffer in that office.
This is a great idea that needs pursued.
Hamilton County is in financial distress. Montgomery and Hamilton have signed a letter of intent to move to Farmersville.
Butler County wants to keep their own office.
Currently Farm Bureau is paying $200 a month rent to Harvest Land which will be moving.
55 Minute mark Connie – There is a procedure on renting to non-county…. I'll have to check into that.
Rachael – It would have been a $6,000 a year savings to move to Farmersville. Lower rent and office help expense.
Next Farm Bureau meeting is the last Tuesday of October.
Discussion on Ohio Agri Women – Preble has about 30 women. Must have $200 a year income from agriculture to join.
