Connie mentions receiving a letter from Lakengren regarding the landfill leachate project currently being explored at the landfill.
Chris Day recommends that they note receipt of the letter. He goes on to explain that on April 17, 2009, he, Steve Simmons, Tom Barnes, Katie Worthington and Kyle Cross (mentioned as Steve's under study) met with Lakengren in reference to exploring options for the landfill leachate.
Chris goes on to read the letter:
For the record it's addressed to the:
Board of County Commissioners Preble County.
Reference: Landfill Leachate
Dear Commissioners, per our meeting on Friday April 17, 2009 with representatives of the county in accordance with the executed Memorandum of Understanding dated May 26, 1998
between Lakengren Water Authority and the Board of Commissioners of Preble County. It is our intent to except the leachate at our waste water treatment plant from the Preble County
Landfill as long as same causes no harm or injury to the sewer system. Anticipate.. anticipants ofthe leachate will require the approval of the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency. In
addition there must be reasonable assurances that the waste water treatment capacity will not be exceeded and that the leachate does not cause non-compliance with NPDS ?sp?
discharge point. Prior to final acceptance of the leachate in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding we will in good faith negotiate in good faith a mutually agreeable price for
treatment of leachate.
Respectfully,
Lakengren Water Authority Board of Trustees
Chris Day mentions that the MOU was brought to his attention by Steve Simmons prior to the meeting with Camden. It was an option to take the leachate to Lakengren. After meeting Chris instructed Steve to set up a meeting to discuss the feasability of taking the leachate to Lakengren.
Chris: References the prior month's landfill monthly meeting.
