Lewisburg Project Nears Completition, Still no Local Coverage – Preble County Development Partnership Donates $1,500 to Commission Charity Ball (Conflict of Interest?)

As of this meeting the Lewisburg Project that I reported on back in mid July will finally have a ground breaking ceremony scheduled November 13 at 2:30 with the caveat that more details may follow. This means that the local newspaper may cover it by the end of November. The project however is well underway and as reported by John Bull should be shelled-in and under roof by the end of the year.

I am going to take issue with the Preble County Development Partnership donation of $1,500 to Preble County Commission Charity Ball. There is nothing wrong with donations to charity; It is my opinion though that there is something wrong when an organization that gets $100,000 by county commission approval donates $1,500 to a ball sponsored by that same county commission. Same goes if there is solicitation of companies and contractors that do business or have current contracts with the county approved by the same county commission.

This county commission day came in at just over three and a half hours and had some interesting meetings.

Charity Ball – $29,500 raised? I am going to take issue with the Preble County Partnership donation of $1,500 to this event. SHERIFF SIMPSON – PHONE SERVICE

Listen to the audio.

Spending over $2,000 per month for local phone service, long distance, internet and TV.

Would like to switch phone service over to TimeWarner from CenturyLink.

Thinks the phone service and Internet will amount to about $1,200 per month. Will have to keep some lines with CenturyLink – Fax & down at the Fairgrounds (Dog Warden).

Thinks they can save between $4,000 & $6,000 per year in phone service alone.

Would require upgrading the Toshiba system with a PRI card. Upgrades would cost about $4,900.

2 hr. 46.5 Minute mark    Need to update consoles in dispatch. Motorola is offering incentives amounting to about $50,000 if updated by end of the year. $322,628 to have upgrade $279,102 with trade in. Best to listen to the audio.

Mercer County has already started upgrades.

Current system will not be supported after 2016.
